Q1. “In what countries can I use MotionX-GPS Drive for navigation?”
A1. Currently, the US and Canada are supported. Watch MotionX.com for future releases with more functionality.
Q2. “I see a lot of different ways to find destinations. Should I use the Search page or the Go To page?”
A2. Depending on what you are looking for, there are several ways to select your desired destination. Manually entering an address is easy from either page, but there are many other options you may wish to try.
Finding businesses and services is easy from the Search page. Either select a quick category such as gas or emergency, or select the shopping cart button to browse among a wide variety of resources such as beaches, bookstores, or Wi-Fi spots. Use Search to find a business location by entering its name.
The Go To page is the quickest way to enter destination details, for example city name, zip code, or even latitude/longitude. It's also convenient way to access your Recently Found destinations, as well as any locations you may have saved such as your home address.
Q3. “How do I use the Near Me, On Route, Destination, and Specify Location tabs when browsing for points of interest or business locations?”
A3. By default, results will be shown for destinations which are closest to your current location (Near Me).
The Everywhere tab allows you to enter any city name to view top results for that area. If you previously used Everywhere search, the city entry will be preserved for future Everywhere searches until you enter a different city name.
If you are currently navigating, you can alternatively use On Route to find results along the way, or select the Destination tab to see results close to the end of your route.
Q4. “Can I save addresses, or navigate to previous destinations?”
A4. Absolutely. On the Go To page or from the address book button on the Search page wheel, you can access some of your recent or favorite destinations.
The last several destinations you selected for navigation are automatically saved under Recently Found, while those you often navigate to are saved under Frequent Destinations.
You can save any location by selecting it from search results, then using the button labeled Save This on its Location Details page. This button is found in the lower left area of Location Details, and allows you to enter a custom name for the destination, and optionally save it as a Favorite and/or your Home location. Only one address can be saved as your Home.
Q5. “What are some more ways I can set a Home location?”
A5. In addition to importing your home address from your iPhone contacts or saving a destination as your home, there are three options accessible from the My Home page found in the Go To menu. You can use your current location, enter an address, enter latitude and longitude coordinates, or use the TapTap feature on the map.
Q6. “How do I navigate to one of my iPhone Contacts?”
A6. On the Go To page or in the address book accessible from the Search page, you will see a menu item called Contacts. Select this to bring up your iPhone Contacts. Select any of your Contacts to bring up address information. Touch the address you wish to use, and MotionX-GPS will create a Location Details page using the name, address, and phone number of that Contact.
Note that you must have previously entered this information into your iPhone Contacts in order for MotionX-GPS Drive to retrieve it. From Location Details, press the Navigate button to immediately route to this address, or use Save This to save it for later navigation.
Q7. “How can I delete a previous destination?”
A7. Similar to messages in the native iPhone Mail application, you can delete an individual entry by swiping left-to-right then pressing the red Delete button which will appear over the entry. This single entry will be cleared from all Go To menus, such as Recently Found, Saved Destinations, etcetera.
If you would like to delete all Recently Found and Frequent Destinations except for those which you have already saved, use the Clear Unsaved Addresses button near the bottom of the Settings page.
