A1. After you have reached the Location Details page of a destination using one of the Search or Go To page menus (see the Selecting a Destination topic), press the green Navigate button in the upper righthand area. Your route will be calculated and navigation will begin.
Note: To change your Navigation method touch the "Navigation Choices" button. From here you can choose Live Voice Navigation or Visual Navigation. Additionaly, you can choose to Drive or Walk to your destination and if you want you can Pre-Load Maps so that if you lose data connection you will continue to have maps for your entire trip. (see the topic Guidance Modes).
Q2. “What does it mean when Live Voice Guidance says to proceed to the highlighted route?”
A2. On the Maps page, you will see a blue line highlighting the road, starting at your current position. You need to orient yourself so that you can proceed along this route. MotionX-GPS Drive can track your "heading" (direction that you are headed towards) once you start to move along the route, and can give more specific instructions such as "Turn Left Now" from this point onward.
Q3. “I see my next turn at the top of the Maps page, but where can I find the full list of directions?”
A3. First touch Menu, then List. This page will provide a full list of directions.
Q4. “How do I get a quick voice update on my next maneuver?”
A4. Immediate voice updates, or "Guidance on Demand" as it is termed, is accessed by pressing the silver speech ballon button in the upper left corner of the screen. If one of the guidance modes is currently in use, you will hear a voice update telling you your next maneuver and how far away it is from your current position.
Q5. “How does Live Voice Guidance help me get back on route if I miss a turn?”
A5. When navigating while using Live Voice Guidance mode, MotionX-GPS Drive will detect your current position and provide you with rerouting instructions to either get you back on track after a missed maneuver, or to proceed on an alternate route if you get far enough from the initial route. You will hear the voice say "rerouting" when it is updating the route.
Q6. “How can I quickly recalculate a route if I get off course when using Visual Navigation?”
A6. When navigating with Visual Navigation mode there is a Reroute button next to the calipers button in the bottom right area of the Maps page. Press Reroute whenever you wish to calculate a new route to the same destination from your current position.
Q7. “With manual directions, how do I move from one maneuver to the next on the Maps page?”
A7. When you use Visual Navigation, you should use the up and down arrows displayed on the left hand side of the Maps page to see the next or previous maneuver. GPS positioning is not utilized when using Visual Navigation mode.
When using any of the MotionX Course-Up or Direction-Up map views with Visual Navigation mode, pressing the next maneuver arrow button will make the map briefly center on the location of the next maneuver, before recentering on your current location (if auto-centering is active, indicated by the blue color of the crosshairs button on the Maps page).
